UMass’ assault on the Tampa Bay area continues. Chris Nee from Rivals tweeted that UMass has shown interest in Andre Simpson, a running back from Leto High School. Simpson’s Rivals page indicates that Florida International, Purdue, USF, NC State and Wisconsin are also involved. According to his MaxPreps page, Simpson rushed for nearly 800 yards for a pretty poor (0-10) team in the area. As soon as I pressed “Submit” with the list of 2013 Recruits, UMass makes another offer – this time to a local kid. Schuman’s National Underclassmen Combine just tweeted that UMass has extended an offer to Tevin Montgomery, a defensive tackle from the Tabor Academy. Rivals confirms this report and has us listed as offering. It looks like we’re competing with Boston College, UConn, Temple and Duke. I don’t mind that company.

For the past month or so, I have been looking for 2013 recruits on Twitter, recruiting sites and via other sources of information. So far it seems that Coach Molnar and his staff are even-handedly attempting to improve the Minutemen on both sides of the ball. It should be noted that this information is not official until a player either signs or reaches out and tells us.
