First Day of Pads and #Operation50K

Today was the first day of pads and live hitting for the Minutemen, and players and coaches alike were excited about it. Coach Allen Suber, who has jumped into his coaching and recruiting role feet-first, posted about today’s practice on Twitter:!/Suber_UMassFB/status/186119855206965249 Derek Beck, a freshman wide receiver who just finished a post-grad year at Bridgeton Academy, said he was feeling the pain:!/DBeckSwag/status/186114074210344962 Oh yea, in case anyone forgot – UMass’ spring game is less than a month away. Particularly interesting is the fact that the Griffins are a package deal: We plan on committing together. We are looking at what’s best for us. Our dream school is Miami, but our options still remain open. UMass understood this situation early and extended an offer to both Shaquill and Shaquem. Ball State, Akron and Western Kentucky have followed suit, according to Rivals. In a tweet only a few days ago, John Cotey from the Tampa Bay Times indicated that South […]

2012 Schedule Update: The Revs Factor

When it was announced that the Minutemen would be playing its home games at Gillette Stadium, soccer fans in New England likely asked: How does that affect the Revolution? The college football and MLS seasons overlap for just over two months, and a number of Revs games take place on the weekends. That being the case, it was important for both parties to make sure that there would be no mishaps on the scheduling front. That being said, UMass football and the New England Revolution will share one date: October 20th. That day, UMass will play Bowling Green, and the […]
