Today was the first day of pads and live hitting for the Minutemen, and players and coaches alike were excited about it. Brendan O’Neil, a tight end with an offer from UMass, just grabbed another offer from Temple, according to Roger Brown, a correspondent with ESPN Boston. O’Neil, who plays for Buckingham Browne & Nichols in Cambridge, also holds an offer from UConn, according to Brown and Rivals. The 6’5, 230 pound O’Neil was at UMass’ Junior Day in mid-February, and again earlier this month. Check out his junior highlights here. Big County Preps had an excellent article on the Griffin brothers, two Tampa-area defensive backs that are holding offers from UMass. Particularly interesting is the fact that the Griffins are a package deal: We plan on committing together. We are looking at what’s best for us. Our dream school is Miami, but our options still remain open. UMass understood this situation early and extended an offer to both Shaquill and Shaquem. When it was announced that the Minutemen would be playing its home games at Gillette Stadium, soccer fans in New England likely asked: How does that affect the Revolution? The college football and MLS seasons overlap for just over two months, and a number of Revs games take place on the weekends.
