Rumor: UMass to Play Penn State in 2016

The UMass football team will play Penn State on the road in 2016, according to a source with a connection to the athletic department.

An e-mail sent to Athletic Director John McCutcheon and a message sent to Assistant Athletic Director Garrett Waller have not been responded to, yet. As of now, FBSchedules has UMass playing the University of Florida and Boston College that season. The Gators game is at the Swamp, and the Boston College location has yet to be announced.

If the rumor is true, Penn State is the newest BCS opponent on UMass’ future schedule. So far UMass has unofficially agreed to play Colorado, Wisconsin, Florida, Boston College and Notre Dame. This is on top of the confirmed future games scheduled against Vanderbilt (2013-2015) and Indiana (2017).

Penn State currently has room on its schedule for UMass: It is only slated to play at Pitt and home against Temple.

We will keep you up to date as news about future scheduling comes out.
