UMass is continuing to make its presence felt in the Sunshine State.
The Minutemen extended an offer to Craig Mackey, a cornerback from Tallahassee, according to the athlete’s own tweet:

There isn’t a lot of stuff out there about Mackey right now, but he does have an ESPN page, which lists him at 5’11 and 174 pounds. Mackey plays for the Big Bend 7-on-7 team, which is similar to Team Tampa – a squad UMass has recruited pretty hard this year. The team’s manager also mentioned Mackey’s UMass offer on Twitter.

Eric Carter, a wide receiver from Lakeland that we’ve talked about before, said UMass stopped by today and sounded impressed on Twitter (“Looks like a great time to be a Minuteman”).
Carter is a very talented athlete and has already receiver scholarship offers from: Ball State, Cincinnati, FIU, Mizzou, Toledo and Western Kentucky, according to Rivals.
Check out his highlights – kid can play.

Odds and Ends: Joey Ivie, a lineman from the Tampa area with a UMass offer, picked up another offer from Florida State. … Marcus Levy, a Fort Pierce, Fla.-based running back with a UMass offer, received an offer from Florida Atlantic, according to Chris Nee. … Mackay Lowrie, a Roxbury quarterback, has given a verbal commitment to Boston College, according to Rivals’ Justin Rowland. Lowrie was at UMass’ Junior Day with other Bay Area recruits. … Because I can’t resist, look what Boston College sent to Marlon Crook, a linebacker with a UMass offer – this is a little over the top. I guess RG III isn’t going to pan out for the Skins.

Just when I start second guessing my deep loathing of all things BC. I hope Crook can see past that hype and see BC football for the washed up, delusional fan base and program that it is. What a disaster.
Haha – at first I thought you meant “Crooks” and I was gonna say – I’m fully aware of that situation.
