(2013 Recruit Michael Keir/Scout)
A number of sources have indicated that UMass has extended an offer to Michael Keir, a quarterback from Philadelphia.
Both Matt Alkire, from xofan.com, and Bob Lichtenfels, from Fox Sports, tweeted about the offer.
Alkire did a brief writeup about the offer.
According to 247 Sports, Keir is a pro-style quarterback and recently picked up an offer from Kent State. Scout has the same and adds that he has paid Rutgers a visit. ESPN has him as the 26th best quarterback in the 2013 class.
Penn Live did an interview with Keir a few months ago, and it sounds like a lot of schools are starting to pay attention:
So far I’ve made unofficial visits to Penn State and Pittsburgh. I also attended camps last summer at Alabama and Ole Miss. This summer, I plan on camping at Ole Miss, Michigan State, Penn State, Rutgers, Iowa, Boston College and North Carolina State.
The website did a follow-up article later in the month, and lists similar teams.
Check out his highlights here. It looks like Keir is already comfortable playing in a spread offense and has a quick and accurate release.

Blog Note: I have not been around recently due to graduation and the beginning stages of bar prep. I take the bar on July 25, so I will be spending most of my waking hours getting ready. That being said, I will still do my best to keep the Maroon Musket up to date with the latest UMass football news.
