(Maurice Hurst Jr., a Massachusetts recruit from Xaverian High School, committed to Michigan over UMass/MaizeandBlueNews.com)
Since we try to keep you up to date with recruits UMass has shown interest in, it seems pertinent to name the guys that have committed elsewhere.
Below is a list of athletes that the Minutemen either offered to or showed interest in and the schools they have given verbal commitments to:
Tim Boyle (QB): Boston College
Dhameer Bradley (WR): UConn
Johnell Barnes (WR): Duke
Darius Commissiong (DT): Georgia Tech
Maurice Hurst Jr. (DT): Michigan
Rashad Kinlaw (ATH): Notre Dame
Cullen Casey (DT): Old Dominion
William Fuller (WR): Penn State
Shakir Soto (DE): Pitt
Eric Waife (DE): Rutgers
T.J. Taylor (ATH): Rutgers
Justin Goodwin (ATH): Rutgers
Jasper Sasser (ATH): South Carolina
Devan Carter (LB): Syracuse
Cameron Sergine (TE): Wake Forest
Most of these players are Northeast kids, but rest assured UMass still has a number of offers out to high-end athletes up and down the East Coast. For the most part, the above-listed schools are in BCS conferences and have a longer history of recruiting FBS athletes in the region.
It will be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming months.
