UMass Recruiting: Reggie Green

(2013 Recruit Reggie Green/NJ.com)

Reggie Green, an athlete from Cranford, N.J. with an offer from the Minutemen, has narrowed his list of potential schools to five – and UMass made the cut.

The news comes via XOFan, which has done a tremendous job covering UMass recruiting and broke every story regarding its recent commitments. XOFan also had the original article about Green’s decision to trim his list, and I mistakenly thought the writing was on the wall, and the Minutemen were out of the running.

Sometimes it feels good to be wrong.

Green’s final list includes: UMass, Boston College, Temple, Pitt and NC State. Noticeably missing from that list are Michigan State, Rutgers and UCF – three schools that had extended offers to Green, according to Rivals. Green mentioned that all five remaining schools are “about the same” in his mind. Apparently he visited UMass back in February.

Green can play either quarterback or wide receiver at the college level and indicated that his decision may hinge on whether he plays on the offensive side of the ball.

The UMASS coaching staff is top notch it’s nice to see that many student- athletes are getting on the UMASS bandwagon early!! It is only going to get better. Can we get Maroon Five or a top band with UMASS roots to play before/or after one of our Gillette dates? Let’s build the excitement. Suggestions please…

I like it … and it looks like there are openings on the Gillette calendar right now as well. As always, it’s all about the money, but if Gillette can make it work, I think it’s a great way to get exposure.
