Huskies Offer Holines

(2013 Commit Sha'ki Holines)

ESPN Boston’s Brendan Hall tweeted that UConn extended an offer to Sha’ki Holines, a UMass recruit that already gave a solid verbal to the Minutemen.

Rivals confirms the offer.

It appears that UConn is hot on UMass’ trail with Holines. Back when Holines committed, Tyrone Mathis, his head coach, told ESPN Boston that other schools weren’t really showing  interest.

I just believe he’s all camped out. We really didn’t get any huge inclination from any other school that they wanted him, so he made his decision and I don’t know if anyone is going to jump in at this point.

UConn has officially jumped in and will now try to woo the three-star recruit. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that UConn invites Holines for a visit on August 30.

RECRUITING NOTE: Marcus Levy, a running back from Fort Pierce, Fl. with a UMass offer, gave a verbal commitment to Cincinnati. Levy is the second recruit to choose the Bearcats over the Minutemen – Eric Carter is the other.

    Bob,
I am, but not sure about the rest of the alumni body in Eastern Mass though…
As of today (47 days from IU game), you can get seats in section 111 row 4. The athletic deptartment needs to make a push and start creating a buzz around this upcoming season. Moving up to FBS simply won’t be enough to fill up Gillette on Saturdays.
Regarding your post on Holines, how many [verbal commited] recruits do you think we will lose to other programs in the next year? As we all know, a verbal commitment doesn’t mean much…

Actually it is 37 days to kick off vs. IU. There is no push by the athletic department period.

37 days will be at UConn… Cannot wait!

Harsh reality is that “alumni base” does NOT equal football fan base. There was never a huge football following to start with, so this “mystery” fan base has to really be built from scratch. If they continue to do what they’re doing (NOTHING), we’re going to feel like the lonely Maytag Repairman sitting in that vast stadium.

37 days until kickoff off of UMASS 2012 FBS 1st season…who is ready?
