UMass Commit: D.J. Woods

D.J. Woods, a wide receiver out of Fort Lauderdale, has verbally committed to play for UMass.

The news comes via Larry Blustein, a reporter covering high school sports in South Florida and author of the “Gridiron Report.”

He mentioned the commitment on Twitter.

Chris Smith, from Southern Prep Stars, confirmed the commitment, also on Twitter. We mentioned Woods back when UMass was peppering the Fort Lauderdale area with offers.

According to Rivals, UMass beat out some pretty stiff competition for Woods. The 5’10, 160-pound receiver also had offers from Kentucky, Toledo, Indiana and Tulane. He is listed as a two-star recruit by both Rivals and Scout.

Woods is the first receiver to commit in the 2013 class. He is also the first Florida-based player.

  • Jordan Page, OL: The Pennington School (N.J)
  • Terrel Correia, DE/OL: Nantucket High School (Mass)
  • D.J. Woods, WR: University School (Fla.)
