In the wake of the NCAA’s unprecedented sanctions on Penn State, schools across the country are attempting to persuade Nittany Lion football players to transfer.
UMass has already gotten involved and has reached out to Eugene Lewis, an incoming freshman wide receiver who committed to Penn State, according to Steve Bennett, a reporter from the Citizen Voice. Lewis was a four-star recruit with offers from 20 programs.
Bennett said that “UMass checked in some point during the day on Monday” with Lewis’ high school coach. He added that he spoke with Lewis’ father, and learned that he “plans on staying at Penn State.”
Whether or not Lewis intends to stay with Penn State, it is clear that UMass is being proactive in its pursuit of Nittany Lion athletes who are sure to transfer in the coming weeks.
(Thanks to Steve Bennett for reaching out to us with this information)
