(Coach Molnar posted this image on Twitter on July 10.)
We have been hearing for a few months that the Minutemen are planning on changing their wardrobe, and by the sound of things, the new threads are in the closet.
While at the Meet-and-Greet at the UMass Club in Boston, I asked Coach Molnar about the new uniforms, and he said that UMass fans would be in for a “surprise” and that there would definitely be a change. He wouldn’t go into it further, and we haven’t heard anything about a release date since then.
However, Mike Wegzyn, while tweeting about the new EA Sports NCAA ’13 game, mentioned that the game had the “old uniforms” – meaning the uniforms from last year. That tells me something: If last year’s uniforms are old uniforms, the new ones are probably in stock (and unfortunately not in the game).
I contacted a source close to the team, who indicated that the team hasn’t shown the new uniforms, yet. Apparently the school isn’t ready to release them. A different source had previously indicated that the uniforms would have a different color scheme than last year but couldn’t go into it further.
Hopefully that means the Aquafresh Helmets are a thing of the past.
I would hope that, if a new logo is involved, UMass can get the word (and merchandise) out soon, so fans can purchase apparel before the first game.

I wouldn’t hate that UM on the Helmet with stars as pride stickers
Stars? Muskets!
