Taking it to the Streets

(UMass has ben promoting the football program at Gillette during the past few weeks. The program's marketing company, the Gold Group, is now seeking interns to be part of the UMass Football Street Team)

Coming soon to the UMass football marketing effort: the UMass Football Street Team.

The Gold Group, a Salem-based marketing firm that is assisting UMass football with its marketing campaign, is putting together a team of college students to promote UMass football. The company sent out a internship posting to the Isenberg School of Management discussing the position.

According to the post, the interns will “attend approximately 20 various events” to distribute promotional materials. The events will be “throughout Massachusetts and parts of Rhode Island.”

It doesn’t say whether the internship is a paid gig, but the post does indicate that internship credits are available.

This sounds like a low (or no) cost marketing effort, and by the looks of the post (“to begin ASAP”) the Gold Group wants to hit the ground running with the UMass Football Street Team.

“UMass Football @ Gillette: 50% cheaper tickets than BC and no superfans anywhere to be found.”

Just read the posting for the interns: “must be clean-shaven with no visible tattoos”. Mildy ironic considering the amount of ink sported by the players!
