In the eight months that this blog has existed, most Maroon Musket readers have become familiar with Bob McGovern. About a year ago, he and I started to kick around the idea of starting a blog dedicated to UMass Football. At the time, our biggest concern was whether we would be able to find the time to contribute enough material to make the blog successful. For lack of a better term, we didn’t want to half-ass this thing.
There is no doubt in my mind that Bob has been more committed to this project than I have been. (I’m just happy to be giving more than Mike Marzelli. Where the hell has that guy been?) Not only the quantity, but the quality of Bob’s work on this site has been nothing short of excellent.
The most amazing part about Bob’s posts in the last eight months is that they were written while he prepared for and took the Bar exam. I will probably never understand how he found a way to manage his time so well. Today Bob found out some awesome news. He passed the exam. I hope everybody can join me in congratulating Robert P. McGovern, Jr., Esquire.

Congrats Bob! Really enjoyed reading both of your UMass blogs. Suing KM is a great idea–fraud, waste and abuse of a proud football program.
First move has to be suing Kevin Morris, no? Grand larceny, criminal neglicence, abuse of the halfback pass…..
Arson … for letting this program burn to the ground.
Thanks guys. This project kept me sane through the process.
Congratulations! Timely news and informative insight. Good work, and best of luck in your legal career. Go UMass!
Congratulations to Bob- Fantastic achievement, and best of luck in your legal career! As for the blog, it really looked great from the start and has only gotten better. The only “improvement” needed would be to promote it further so more people can read it. A nice blog like this deserves a sizable audience. How about Maroon Musket business cards that can be passed around at Gillette?
Agree, what a great D1 blog, very good and professional, just like the editors/authors. Keep up the good work in and out of the blog.
Congrats! Thanks for your work on the blog.
Great work professionally and supporting UMass!
Congrats Bob! If you’re half as successful as a lawyer as you are as a writer, you’ll do great.
