(UMass defensive back Mike Lee has been dismissed from the football program/ToledoBlade)
Mike Lee, a redshirt junior defensive back on the UMass football team, is no longer with the program.
Harry Plumer, with the Republican, broke the story.
Lee was suspended in the spring, missed the UConn game and did not make the trip to Western Michigan on Saturday. Nick Speller, Alan Williams and Jamar Smith – all of whom were left at home this past weekend – are still on the team.
The news comes only a few weeks after Lee spoke to Matt Vautour with the Daily Hampshire Gazette and sounded apologetic for his past issues:
It was a rough summer. There were times I would literally just sit in my house when my roommate would leave to go to practice and knowing I couldn’t go to practice with him hurt. I thought I would never be back, never step on the field again.
The official roster has already been updated.
Lee played in three games this season, starting one. He had been a decent producer and had 12 tackles and an interception this year.
