UMass has extended an offer to Brad Mayes, a sophomore quarterback down at Berkley Prep in Tampa Bay.
The news comes from Joey Knight with the Tampa Bay Times.
As far as I can tell Mayes is one of the – if not the – first 2015 athlete offered by the Minutemen. It looks like Mayes isn’t exactly flying under the radar. While UMass is the first to offer, a number of big time schools (including Florida and Florida State) are already starting to look, according to Rivals.
Mayes is 6’2, 180 punds and is listed as a pro style quarterback.
There isn’t too much out there about this kid right now, but a number of articles mention that he has a lot of arm strength. This one clip shows it off a little bit while simultaneously exhibiting a three-star broadcasting prospect. Also, for a bit more depth, here are his hudl highlights.
