(UMass commit Peter Angeh/ESPN)
Peter Angeh, a 2013 defensive end from Maryland that we’ve mentioned before, has committed to UMass.
He made the announcement on Twitter:
A long time coming! Taking my talents to Amherst! #UMass #D1Bound #Willows instagr.am/p/T6U9_NHvr6/
— All-American (@DoctorWiseman) December 31, 2012
On Dec. 21, Angeh indicated that he was down to two schools: Ohio and UMass. He also holds offers from Western Michigan, Temple and Cincinnati, according to Rivals.
He posted a photo on instagram with a chart breaking down the pros and cons of both UMass and Ohio. The fact that there is a “9″ next to playing time isn’t lost on me.
It’s clear that Angeh, who is 6’3 and 245 pounds, plans to play defensive end at the next level. He told the Washington Post that “[No recruiter] has said anything about playing linebacker” during the recruiting process.
Angeh is the second “pure” defensive end to verbally commit, joining Cole Ormsby. Peter Ngobidi and Julian Taylor also played the position in high school, but Ngobidi may be a linebacker, and Taylor could play tight end.
Here are his senior year hudl highlights. Check out his junior highlights here:

Happy days!!!! Defensive end is such a critical need on this team. What a great day to be a Umass fan. Sounds like we got a great player
After seeing Peters video clip, i am more excited about him than any other recruit. He plays at such a high energy level, sheds blockers quickly to make tackles and uses leverage so well. His martial arts background seems to help him considerably. Welcome aboard Peter
Beating out Cincinnati, Temple, Ohio, and W. Michigan for a recruit is great news!
Happy New Year to the Maroon Musket!! I love UMASS,UMASS Football and reading the latest from the Musket. Thank you guys for producing this outlet. better days are indeed ahead… we have a great leader in Charley Molnar…that I’m sure of. 2013 will be the beginning of many new milestones for the Minutemen on the gridiron.
Nice pickup by the staff! Hopefully we’re in for a few more before signing day arrives.
Agreed!
