Why No Cross-Over Games?

A few readers have asked why the MAC schedule is simply the reverse of last year’s slate. I reached out to Ken Mather, the conference’s assistant commissioner and head of media relations, and he explained the situation succinctly.

Essentially, the cross-over games between the MAC East and MAC West “are on a two-year rotating basis.” This is also why UMass doesn’t play MAC East foe Kent State.

UMass fans will have to wait until 2014 to see the likes of Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Ball State.

Here is the schedule as we know it:

  • 8/31/13 – at Wisconsin
  • 9/7/13 – Maine
  • 9/14/13 – at Kansas State
  • 9/21/13 – Vanderbilt
  • TBD – Akron
  • TBD – at Bowling Green
  • TBD – at Buffalo
  • TBD – at Central Michigan
  • TBD – Miami (OH)
  • TBD – Northern Illinois
  • TBD – at Ohio
  • TBD – Western Michigan

Bob, a bit off-topic, but what’s your assessment of Klysmann Afonso (walk-on WR)? Does he have ability that potentially deserved an FBS and/or FCS offer?

I have not watched nearly enough film to make a full assessment, but from what I have seen, he looks like a guy that could get time as a kick returner if he really busts his ass.
