UMass Commits: Wilkinson, Harris, Burston

During a weekend long thought to be huge for UMass recruiting, the Minutemen picked up three more commitments.

Elijah Wilkinson and Antonio Harris, athletes who can play either offensive or defensive line, have both verbally committed to UMass, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.  E.J. Burston, a wide receiver, also committed. All three were on official visits to the school.

Wilkinson is a 6’4, 330-pound athlete from Downingtown, Penn. who holds offers from James Madison and Delaware State, according to Rivals. 247 Sports has him listed as a two-star recruit. Check out his hudl highlights here.

Harris is a three-star recruit and has offers from all over, including MAC foes Ohio and Buffalo, according to Rivals. The 6’3, 311-pound athlete hails from Upper Marlboro, Md.

If used on defense, Wilkinson and Harris will provide some much-needed size to a UMass team that lost a significant portion of its defensive line.

Burston is a speedy receiver from Palmetto, Fla. that we’ve talked about before. He is teammates with UMass commit Shaquille Harris, and both visited UMass together. Burston had offers from Middle Tennessee State and FIU. UMass wide receiver coach Allen Suber recruited both athletes.

Dillon Tighe, a wide receiver from Maryland, told the Maroon Musket that he has committed to UMass as a preferred walk-on. The 6’0, 190-pound receiver was drawing interest from a number of FCS programs.

    Thanks for the update, Bob.
Was just thinking how much help we need to bolster the dl. Angeh is the only true incoming de, but we’re still way too thin in the ranks. I think Stanley could be better used as a a MIC or WIL because of his experience, and who could help the rs fr and tfr make the adjustment to starting roles. The secondary was impressive given their youth and inexperience. I also believe the LB corps ppear to be in better condition than last season, if but for the loss of Perry. Although we’re young, I am encouraged by and impressed with the recruiting efforts of the staff. This year’s senior class is Brown’s last recruiting clas before he left. It’ s clear to me that
the recruiting efforts made by his successor pale by comparison both before and now. This looks good to me.
