2013 Transfer: Ricardo Miller

(UMass Transfer Ricardo Miller/Scout)

Ricardo Miller, a wide receiver/tight end from the University of Michigan who will graduate this year, is likely heading to UMass as a graduate student transfer.

Miller had been tweeting about his interest in UMass and has been speaking with Peter Ngobidi, a linebacker that signed with the program. A source close to the situation said that Miller-to-UMass isn’t a done deal. M Go Blue Michigan Wolverine, a Michigan website that does a weekly podcast, reported that the move is happening.

As far as we can tell, it’s in the works, but not official.

Miller was a three-star recruit coming out of high school and chose Michigan over Florida, Tennessee and others. He would be the second Michigan athlete to transfer to UMass as a grad student, joining Mike Cox, UMass’ starting running back for the 2012 season.

  1. Brandon says:

Ricardo by all accounts at Michigan is a great kid and someone who represents the team well both on and off the field. Unfortunately for him he was too slow to play WR in the Big Ten and couldn’t bulk up enough to play TE. Hopefully he finds a way to contribute on the field for you guys, but even if he doesn’t he should be a great mentor to the underclassmen.

    1. Bob McGovern says:

Thanks for the insight Brandon. Aside from his interest in UMass, we really hadn’t heard too much about him.

  2. Larry says:

Always good to have smart players on board.

On another note – Now this is interesting

Got this from the UMass signing site

A German national who played for the Cologne Falcons which is an American Football team that is in the North Division of the German Football League … Attends FOS Ansbach which is a high school in Ansbach, Germany … Plans to study molecular engineering at UMass … A four-year starter for the Falcons where he played every position on the offensive line … Named an All-GFL selection four consecutive years (2009-12) … Named to the German National Team in 2011 and 2012 … A two-time team captain (2011 & 2012).

Sounds like he would make a good Center or DT.

    1. SJGMoney says:

Coach mentioned last night someone that had planned to make a Center, I think it was this kid (can’t remember unfortunately). Film clips of him were pretty funny, looked like me going down to the Pop Warner field and pancking a few 10 year olds.

      1. SJGMoney says:

That would be “pancaking”. The typo above looks too close for comfort like “spanking” and that would be awful creepy.
