The guys playing DL now are busting their butts against some good & big competition.

Fisher OT from Central Michigan is likely to be a first or second round pick in this years NFL draft. He is around 6’7 315. Check out the All MAC selections on the OL and he is not out of the ordinary.

We will graduate at least 3 DL’s from this years team.

Us getting some bigger edge players who are 6’7 250 out of HS sure helps and the opportunities for them to play early are their for them.

Coach Charly stocked up a lot on OL’s this yr and next yr those in sec 109 would like to see a bucket of DL’s oming on board- especially ones who play the OT’s tough. Still hoping a DE transfer would come along but that may have to wait.

Don’t be surprised if Fisher goes in the Top 10 Larry.

      1. Larry says:

$$$ you are on the money on this one as he is one good OT and plays Left Tackle who can move as well.

Some draftniks say he will go high but we will have to wait n see.

For me – I do not see how he goes lower than the middle of the 2nd round.

I would be shocked if this kid ended up picking Umass, don’t get me wrong would love to see him playing at the razor in 2014 but he looks like he belongs in the Big 10. But maybe if molnar and co. keep on him and get a few wins this year could be enough to convince him.

    1. Umike says:

But why would he be waiting for an offer from us? Seems like he has an interest in the school.

  3. tom m says:

I’d take that tweet from Alkire with a grain of salt! This kid looks like a “beast”
and a lot of schools higher up will be chasing him but you got to go after everybody . . . and we may get lucky!

  4. UM51 says:

One thing that people underestimate is how reputable a university UMass is nationally, especially in New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and down south. This should be huge going forward as we become more and more competitive.

    1. sleepy sheep says:

Especially when easily confused with MIT and Amherst College! I agree though. UMass has a better name outside of Massachusetts.

  5. umass1991 says:

wait, am I reading that tweet right? This kid has been waiting for an offer from Umass?? Goood thing he got it. Don’t want to take things for granted, but if they stay on him, we should see this kid in a Umass uniform in 2014. Let the tweets begin.
