UMass Commit: Nick Berus

Nick Berus, a longsnapper from Pine-Richland High School in Pennsylvania, has committed to UMass as a preferred walk-on. The news comes from Rubio Longsnapping, a longsnapping camp that Berus participated in. Chris Rubio mentioned the commitment on Twitter: Berus is the second longsnapper to commit to UMass has a preferred walk-on during the offseason. Emmett Odegard, a 2013 longsnapper from Greenwich High School in Connecticut, committed in late February. Both longsnappers will duke it out for the spot left behind by Matt Testani, who announced he was transferring from UMass back in December. After news broke that UMass would be without the services of offensive linemen Jamie Casselberry and Michael Boland, many fans began to wonder whether the Minutemen were back to square one in the trenches.
