UMass Recruit: Jarry Williams

Jarry Williams, a 2014 wide receiver from the Jacksonville area, has picked up a verbal offer from UMass, according to a source with knowledge of his recruitment.

Williams, a 6’4, 184-pound athlete, is being recruited by UMass wide receivers coach Allen Suber. Williams told the Maroon Musket that he and Suber have a good relationship.

“I love coach Suber. He’s a great coach that I would love to play for for many years. We get along great,” he said.

According to 247Sports, Williams holds offers from a number of programs, including Harvard, Florida A&M, North Carolina and Yale. He told the Maroon Musket that “UMass is my number one school right now.” Williams added that he’s waiting to visit the school prior to making his decision.

The Ivy League interest is no surprise: Williams currently holds a 4.1 GPA. On the field, he had more than 600 yards receiving and five touchdowns.

When asked about his thoughts on the UMass, Williams said that he likes the idea of being a “key part of rebuilding their program.”

Yeah – I’m very interested to see what happens with these kids. My assumption is that some will leave, some might not qualify, and some will grey shirt.
