UMass Commit: Jarell Addo

UMass’ “Made in Mass” campaign just scored a major victory. The Minutemen picked up a verbal commitment from Jarell Addo, a three-star safety from Leominster, Mass., according to two sources with knowledge of his recruitment. Addo is the third Bay Stater on UMass’ 2014 list, joining the Dexter School’s Dan DiNicola and Dean College’s Jason Sylva. Addo is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect and plays on both sides of the ball for the Blue Devils. He was offered a scholarship by UMass during an unofficial visit back in late May. Addo has flown under the radar a bit, likely because 2012 […]

Sylva Dispels UConn Rumors

The rumors started to circulate almost immediately after Jason Sylva verbally committed to UMass. “There will be bigger programs checking in on this kid,” one source told the Maroon Musket, hours after he committed to the Minutemen at the first-annual Clam Bake. On Tuesday morning, the Hartford Courant’s Desmond Conner tweeted: “Dean JC LB Jason Sylva not quite a lock to UMass just yet. UConn still in picture.” Sylva signed with UConn back in 2012 but did not academically qualify. He went to Dean College in Franklin, Mass. and initially had the intention of heading to Storrs. On Friday, before heading out […]

UMass Commit: Quai Jefferson

The momentum behind UMass’ 2014 recruiting doesn’t seem to be losing any steam. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Minutemen picked up a verbal commitment from Quai Jefferson, a wide receiver from New Jersey. UMass extended an offer to the 6-foot-1, 190-pound recruit back in May after visiting his school. Jefferson holds an offer from Delaware and visited Rutgers in late March. He has reportedly drawn interest from Lehigh, Michigan, Bryant, Harvard and Cincinnati. Jefferson spent time as a running back and wide receiver for St. Joseph Regional and racked up 268 yards on the ground and […]

UMass Commit: Dimitri Angelas

Hours after picking up its first quarterback of the 2014 class, the UMass football team grabbed a verbal commitment from Dimitri Angelas, an offensive lineman from Michigan, according to two sources with knowledge of his recruitment. Angelas is the first Rust Belt recruit of UMass’ 2014 class and is one of the few MAC-territory recruits the Minutemen have looked into. The 6-foot-5, 308-pound prospect also holds an offer from Old Dominon. Angelas hails from Northville High School in Michigan. Northville is where Mike Wegzyn, UMass’ starting quarterback, started his high school career before heading south to Knoxville Catholic High School in Tennessee. Check […]
