UMass Recruit: Kirk Barron

Kirk Barron, an offensive lineman from Mishawaka, IN, has picked up an offer from UMass. The news comes from IndianaPreps.com, which mentioned the offer on Twitter: Barron also holds offers from Ohio and Ball State, according to 247 Sports. The 6’3, 300-pound athlete is considered a three-star prospect and is piquing the interest of some bigger programs. Check out his performance at the Core 6 Showcase here. UMass Recruit: Shawn Cavallaro

One of the Granite State’s top recruits visited UMass on Tuesday and came away impressed. Shawn Cavallaro, an athlete from Hanover, N.H., told the Maroon Musket he was at spring practice and checked out the Amherst area. He said he is being recruited by defensive coordinator Phil Elmassian as a safety and cornerback. “It was a great area and I loved the campus. The new facilities are coming along, and that will make it even a better place to be around,” Cavallaro said. UMass Commits: Chris Sotir, Jesse Monteiro

Chris Sotir, a 2013 offensive lineman from Worcester Technical High School, has committed to UMass as a preferred walk-on, according to Ryan Poland, a friend of Sotir’s. Poland indicated that Sotir committed to UMass on April 6. “He has met with the coaching staff multiple times but made a full decision Saturday when he visited. He has always wanted to go there and is thrilled for the opportunity,” Poland said. The Maroon Musket initially reported when Sotir visited during the Bowling Green game in October. UMass Recruit: Erik Lenzen

Erik Lenzen, a 2014 offensive tackle from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has picked up an offer from UMass. Lenzen mentioned the offer on Twitter: The 6’6, 270-pound recruit also holds offers from East Carolina and South Alabama, according to 247 Sports. It looks like all three offers came within just a few days of each other. After his junior season, Lenzen was named Second-Team All-Broward by the Miami Herald.
