UMass Recruiting: Final Weekend

With Signing Day just days away, UMass was making some moves on the recruiting trail. Aside from picking up a verbal commitment from Arthur Williams, Charley Molnar and staff also had a number of running backs on campus. Daquan Mack, a rumbling power back that has already verbally committed to UMass, was in Amherst on a visit. As was Lorenzo Woodley, a three-star back from Miami who holds offers from all over the place, according to 247 Sports. Woodley has offers from schools ranging from Purdue to Cincinnati. He visited the Boilermakers back in November. If Woodley were to sign with […]

UMass Recruiting: News and Notes

As Signing Day draws near, there is no shortage of recruiting news. UMass is no longer pursuing Brandon Peoples, a running back from from Warminster, Pa. who verbally committed last month, according to a source with knowledge of the recruiting process. Peoples had originally committed to Temple and then decommitted shortly after Steve Addazio left the school for Boston College. With Peoples no longer in the picture, UMass has one scholarship running back committed in the 2013 class - Daquan Mack. It sounds like Charley Molnar and Roderick Plummer paid Mack a visit: Speaking of commits, the Maroon Musket has learned that several athletes who […]

UMass Commit: Daquan Mack

Daquan Mack, a powerful running back from Pennsylvania, has committed to UMass. The news comes from Matt Alkire, who broke the commitment on Twitter. The commitment comes on the heels of news that Mack was “leaning toward” committing to UMass. Mack is a 6’1, 248-pound power back. I had the opportunity to speak to Alkire, and he said that Mack has been flying under the radar and has the ability to be a “big back” at the next level who can get some reps as both a halfback and fullback. As it stands, if Mack suited up for the Minutemen […]

2013 Recruit: Daquan Mack

A Pennsylvania fullback may be close to committing to UMass. According to Rick O’Brien, a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Daquan Mack  ”is leaning toward Division I-A Massachusetts.” He reported the same on Twitter. Mack, who is 6’1 and 255 pounds, has also piqued the interest of UConn, Temple and Villanova, according to Rivals. Last year Mack had more than 1,000 yards rushing, 15 touchdowns and had more than 5 yards per rush. He had the pleasure of running behind J.J. Denman, an all-everything lineman who had scholarship offers from all over before ultimately committing to Rutgers. O’Brien indicated that Mack will […]
