Darren Thellen, the face of UMass’ upgrade to FBS football, has been named the university’s Male Athlete of the Year. From UMassAthletics.com: Thellen started all 12 games on the season and served as one of the team leaders for the squad in its first-ever year at the FBS level. Darren Thellen Invited to Giants Minicamp

The University of Massachusetts continues to be a pipeline for the New York Giants. Darren Thellen, a former safety for the UMass football team, has been invited to Giants minicamp, according to multiple sources. The invitation comes on the heels of New York drafting Mike Cox in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. If both athletes make the team, they will play alongside UMass’ alumnus Victor Cruz, if he signs with the Giants. Weekend Hangover Thoughts from UMass vs. UConn

I must admit that after Thursday’s game I wasn’t very eager to start jotting down my thoughts about the drubbing. I’m thrilled that UMass is now officially playing FBS football, but there wasn’t a lot of positives to take away from the game against UConn.
