John Wallace, an offensive lineman who announced that he was leaving the UMass program in early December, has landed at Sacramento State, an FCS program. He did an interview with Brian Berger Sacramento State’s SID.
John Wallace, an offensive lineman from Somerville, Mass., is leaving the UMass football program. Wallace tweeted that he received his release from UMass. He indicated that he will play somewhere else. The 6’4, 275-pound redshirt freshman saw significant playing time for the Minutemen this year at center and guard. Wallace was a likely candidate to replace Quinton Sales at center next year. Wallace is the second player to transfer. Last week, we broke the news that Brian Dowling, a receiver/punt returner from New Jersey, chose to leave the program.
When Charley Molnar was introduced as the new head football coach at UMass on December 8, 2011 he spoke at length about the kind of players he wanted to recruit. Molnar said, “Here’s what I want: When it’s November, and championships are won in November – our guys are going to go out there with bare arms. They’re not going to have all that gear on.
