Darren Thellen Invited to Giants Minicamp

The University of Massachusetts continues to be a pipeline for the New York Giants. Darren Thellen, a former safety for the UMass football team, has been invited to Giants minicamp, according to multiple sources. The invitation comes on the heels of New York drafting Mike Cox in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. If both athletes make the team, they will play alongside UMass’ alumnus Victor Cruz, if he signs with the Giants. UMass Recruiting: News and Notes

Chris Barnett, a tight end who had at one point signed with the University of Michigan, left the school and started showing interest in UMass, has decided to switch positions and commit to Missouri Southern State University. Back in October, Barnett told the Maroon Musket that he had picked up a UMass offer and was seriously considering joining the program. Speller Invited to Shrine Game

UMass’ Nick Speller (offensive tackle) has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game. The news comes from the game’s Twitter page: The Shrine Game is an annual post-season college football all-star game. The game will take place on Jan. 19 at Tropicana Field in Saint Petersburg, Fla.
