Huber: Stability of Program Caused Decommitment

Shane Huber, a New Jersey linebacker who recently decommitted from UMass, spoke to NJ.com about why he reopened his recruitment. He said UMass’ instability was a major concern: One of the things that have been a little troublesome to me is the lack of support the school had moving to FBS football. It wasn’t just something I jumped right into. I talked to all my family and coaches, and I thought it was in my best interest to de-commit and re-open my recruitment. I wasn’t feeling 100 percent comfortable, there has been some lack of stability within the program so [...]

Shane Huber Decommits

Shane Huber, a New Jersey linebacker who committed to UMass back in July, has decommitted and will open up his recruitment. Scout’s Brian Dohn broke the news on Twitter: https://twitter.com/BrianDohnScout/status/285515568117858304 Rivals’ Matt Hladik also tweeted about Huber’s decision. https://twitter.com/MattHladik919/status/285512059456741378 Huber was high on UMass early, and was one of the first recruits to publicly praise Charley Molnar and his staff. This is just speculation, but I’m guessing Rutgers is getting involved after Huber’s impressive senior year, which [...]

In late June, Huber visited Amherst and had great things to say about the coaching staff. Then, when I spoke to Matt Alkire from XOFan, we learned that Huber was leaning toward signing this month: After this weekend (at UMass), I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes back on his return visit in July and commits. He had too many [...]

UMass Commit: Cole Ormsby

UMass picked up its fourth verbal commitment today – its third in the past week. According to XOFan, Cole Ormsby, a defensive end from Connecticut who had 64 tackles and 13 sacks last season, committed to play for UMass today. Ormsby is 6’4 and 220 pounds and hails from Windsor High School. Here is a brief writeup on UMass’ newest commit: Windsor High School’s Cole Ormsby is a talented defensive end who can really get after the quarterback. Ormsby combines a good initial strike with power, and hustles to make plays. He has the strength and quickness to dominate offensive [...]
