2013 Commits: Casali, Holines

The UMass football team added some power to its 2013 recruiting class this past weekend. The Minutemen received verbal commitments from Steven Casali, a grinding running back from New York, and Sha-ki Holines, a linebacker from Springfield Commerce. Todd Stafford, the first 2013 commit that you learned about here first, took some time to talk to ESPN Boston about his decision to head to UMass. I won’t steal too much of ESPN’s thunder here, but you have to love this quote: If they had remained at the I-AA level (FCS) the appeal would have still been there. Charley Molnar and his staff have received their first 2013 commitment. Todd Stafford, a powerful 6’5, 240-pound quarterback from the Brunswick School in Greenwich, Conn., has decided to come to the University of Massachusetts, according to Jarrett Shine, his high school coach. Stafford called his coach today “to say that he has committed,” Shine said, via e-mail. According to Rivals, Stafford has been receiving interest from Boston College, UConn, Duke, Miami (Fla.) and Penn State. UMass is the only school to offer at this point.
